Day 1: Home Option Gallery Appointment

Thursday, December 10, 2015

Day 1 started at 9am. With peak hour traffic, we got there just in time!

We introduced ourselves to the reception counter and advised them that we had an appointment. Once we were confirmed, we were asked to wait for our consultant upstairs in the waiting area.

We were then introduced to Amy, who was going to be our HOG consultant for the day. We didn't know what to expect. We thought that we were ready, but didn't realise that there were a lot of options (meaning upgrades haha) to choose from!

We started off with the exterior of the house. Going to PGH beforehand saved our lives, so that saved some time picking and choosing our external colours.  We forgot to choose the colours for our cladding and moroka finishes. Lucky we were able to do that there. I was probably indecisive for about 15 minutes choosing colours as they had every colour under the sun! Lucky Amy was helpful with assisting us to make up our mind! For cladding and moroka finishes she said you could pretty much choose any taubmans paint colour, hence the reason I was so indecisive!

Oh also, we chose gravel for our bricks, which was in Range B for Eden Brae. We found out on the day that our upgrade was FREE because our design guidelines for our area were quite strict. Saved us $788! But that money went to other things haha.

So this is what we chose for our externals:
  • Colorbond roof: Monument
  • Gutter: Monument
  • Fascia: Monument
  • Bricks: Gravel
  • Front Door: Quantum timber stain (dark oak) - UPGRADE
  • Aluminium Windows: Apo Grey
  • Moroka Finish: Taubmans Grey Street
  • Cladding, Eaves, Portico & Alfresco Ceiling: Taubmans windy beach
  • Garage door and hinged door: Shale Grey
  • Driveway: Colour through concrete (CCS Onyx)
  • Water tank: Shale Grey
  • Meter box: Monument
Our external selections

Our standard internals were:

  • Ceiling and cornice: white
  • Internal walls, skirting, architraves and internal doors: Winter Ice
  • All our internal doors and internal hardware were standard. I didn't want to look at the upgrades and they were pretty decent anyway: Satin chrome Lianna Levers and privacy locks
  • Fittings: Were all standard too:
    • Symphony 75mm cornice (there were only 2 standard choices from the 6),
    • Standard skirting (2 to choose from)
  • Kitchen & Bathrooms: Even though there's a separate appointment with Kitchen Culture, it was recommended to choose from the standard range so you had something to fall back on if you chose not to do any upgrades (because some of the upgrade prices are crazy!) at the Kitchen Culture appointment:
    • Benchtop: Essastone (as part of the best ever sale): Crystal Chalk 20mm pencil round edge (there 3 to choose from in the standard range)
    • Laminated cupboard, overhead cupboards & draws (kitchen): Natural Ghost Gum
    • Handles: Hettich 9995501 matt chrome, all horizontal
    • Cupboard/drawers (bathroom): Natural Sublime Teak
Our standard range. Still looks good!
Ok, we did do some damage with some upgrades from HOG. Follow the next post for the pricing.. eek!
